Hanu Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Hanu app (package com.aigenerator.hanu) handles, why, and the choices you have. Hanu is a Korean language learning app for Android.
Who we are
Hanu is published by Hanu Labs. For any privacy question or request, contact us at hanu.support@gmail.com.
The short version
- You do not need an account. We do not ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Your lessons, progress and settings are stored on your device.
- We use Google Firebase to understand app usage and fix crashes, and RevenueCat with Google Play to handle Hanu Plus subscriptions.
- The app shows no ads, and we do not sell your data.
Information stored on your device
Your course progress, lesson results, review schedule, language and reminder settings are saved locally on your phone. We do not upload them to our own servers. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes them.
Microphone and speech recognition
Some exercises let you speak Korean so the app can check your pronunciation. The microphone is used only while you are doing such an exercise, and only after you grant permission. Hanu uses your device's built-in speech recognition. When on-device recognition is available, audio stays on your phone. If it is not, the speech service installed on your device (usually Google's) may process the audio under its own privacy policy. Hanu does not record, store or send your voice to us.

Notifications
If you allow notifications, Hanu sends study reminders that are scheduled on your device. No personal information is sent to create them. You can turn them off in the app or in Android settings.
Legal basis (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
We process data to provide the app and your subscription (performance of a contract), and to measure usage and fix crashes (our legitimate interest in a working, improving app, or your consent where the law requires it). Microphone access is based on your permission, which you can withdraw at any time in Android settings.
How long data is kept
- Firebase Analytics data: up to 14 months.
- Crashlytics crash reports: up to 90 days.
- RevenueCat purchase records: as long as needed to provide your subscription and meet tax and accounting obligations.
- Data on your device: until you delete the app or clear its data.
International transfers
Google and RevenueCat may process data in the United States and other countries. They use safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. Because Hanu has no accounts, we usually cannot link analytics data to you personally. Email us and we will help as far as we can. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Hanu is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided data to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
All data sent by the app travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Data on your device is protected by Android's app sandbox.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
